This vibrant board book teaches little ones key Hebrew words from the Bible and helps them place important biblical events in proper order.Did you know that an overwhelming majority of the Old Testament was originally written in Hebrew? This beautiful and ancient language enriches our understanding of Scripture and deepens our love for Elohim, our Creator and Judge.

Hallelujah, the latest offering in the innovative Baby Believer(R) series, introduces children to 10 essential Hebrew words from the Bible--their written appearance, definition, and pronunciation--and familiarizes little ones with the timeline of major events in God's Word from creation to Revelation.

The Baby Believer board book series introduces little children to core Christian concepts in enraging, age-appropriate ways. This installment teaches Hebrew words from Scripture, and the book also follows the arc of redemptive history from creation through Christ’s return. On each double page spread, one page introduces a word in Hebrew writing, along with the transliterated English version of the word, the pronunciation, and the meaning. The other page features an illustration of a related scene from the Bible, along with a Scripture verse that uses this word. The author, Danielle Hitchen, underlined the key word in each verse to help readers make this connection.

Hallelujah: A Biblical Hebrew Primer is a great way for parents to teach their children about important words from the Bible in the original language. The book is basic and short without any oversimplification, and it provides multiple avenues for further conversation about these theological terms, the story of Scripture, and who God is. The illustrations from Jessica Blanchard are also very beautiful, and I love the way that the pages alternate between bright and soothing colors. This book is lovely to look at, and it is also great quality as a physical object. The board book pages are very thick and sturdy, and can withstand many repeated readings and some rough handling from toddlers.

I really enjoyed this book, and I would recommend it to Christian families and church classroom libraries. I also anticipate buying copies to give at baby showers for some of the nerdy seminary students in my life. Hallelujah is a wonderful resource for introducing little children to important concepts from the Bible, and I greatly enjoyed the well-selected Scriptures and the art. This book is excellent, and I am thankful that I had the opportunity to review it.
