Lyla Fox knows she has a reputation at the SNAP Agency for impulsivity, but when she receives a threatening letter from a man she helped put in prison, she can't stop herself from going all in to find out why he's coming after her. Unfortunately, she's going to need the help of the one person who questions her reckless choices more than anyone else.
Explosives and weapons specialist Nicols Garcia agrees to help Lyla in order to keep her safe, but her recklessness continues to be a major concern, especially when her investigation into a conspiracy puts a target on her back. Dealing with bombs is dangerous. Working with Lyla is proving to be just as treacherous--to both the mission and his heart.
Natalie Walters closes out her SNAP Agency series with a bang with this nail-biting story of a deadly government conspiracy, an unlikely couple, and an ending that will leave you breathless.
I have been eagerly waiting for Blind Trust by Natalie Walters. Lyla and Nicolás are complex characters, and while the previous books in “The SNAP Agency” trilogy hint at who they are, Blind Trust opens them up to readers—the good, the bad, and the ugly. Lyla is reckless to a fault, and she sometimes disregards instructions…even when a crisis could get her killed. Nicolás always has her back, but he worries Lyla will find herself in danger—a danger from which there is no escape. He does not want to think about what it might do to his heart or to those of their entire team. Slowly but surely, Natalie Walters breaks Lyla and Nicolás’s walls. The dams burst, and Walters takes readers on another wild ride. I don’t want to leave the SNAP Agency behind and will be revisiting it in the future! I can’t help it.
Just like the previous books, Blind Trust by Natalie Walters contrasts romance with humor and suspense. I loved it, but Walters dropped a lot of character names. That is the only reason Blind Trust does not receive five stars from me. I started mixing up people, which proved to be a problem. I needed a map of how they all connected, but the story required all the characters for the pieces to fit together into a puzzle that eventually made sense. Nothing in Blind Trust is simple. The relationships. The characters’ pasts. The plotline. Readers will be scratching their heads to figure things out, just like I did. But I would not have it any other way. No predictability for me, please and thank you!
Walters kept the romance subtle. She builds it between Lyla and Nic from the first book in the series until its apex in Blind Trust…and I loved that. It is so hard to maintain a balance between romance and suspense, and Natalie Walters is among the best at that. While Blind Trust can stand on its own, I would recommend reading the other two full-length books in the series. They give readers the appropriate backgrounds for every character and for the final novel’s plot.
I read Blind Trust in a day. I dove in willingly from page one, and I kept swimming. The rapids did not deter me. If anything, they pushed me to swim harder—to continue reading until I reached the final page. Blind Trust by Natalie Walters is exhilarating from beginning to end. I can hardly wait to see what Natalie Walters will write next…and I will be pre-purchasing the novel as soon as I find out!
