Haunted by a half-forgotten past, former army photographer Remi Grant is working at an isolated storm-watching lodge on the rocky Washington coast when she receives a mysterious puzzle piece. The puzzle piece may be the catalyst to unlock a disturbing incident she struggles to remember--the event that sent her into hiding. But with heavy storms rolling in, she has to focus on the present, not get caught up in the past.
When a mysterious man at the lodge saves her life--twice--Remi becomes suspicious and confronts him. After a catastrophic event in his own life, former military pilot Hawk Beckett is trying to get some perspective at the suggestion of his former commanding officer. Faced with the fiercest storm to hit the coast in a decade, Remi and Hawk are forced into survival mode. But they're not alone at the lodge.
Someone doesn't want Remi to remember what happened--and they will stop at nothing to see her dead.

Remi Grant is running from an incident in her past—one she can’t even remember. Working at an isolated lodge has helped to keep her mind clear and focused on her new responsibilities. Hawk Beckett saves her from a failing rope ladder when she risks her life to rescue a visitor’s dog from a ferocious storm. The near-death experience triggers a flashback, a flashback of something someone wants to remain forgotten. Hawk and Remi suddenly find themselves thrown into danger, together, danger both natural and manmade. Will they survive? Only one way to find out: Read Storm Warning by Elizabeth Goddard!

Goddard definitely knows how to pull in readers from page one. She had me hooked, and she kept me locked in until the novel’s end. Storm Warning carefully balances thrill with faith and romance. Hawk and Remi face threats galore on their lives, and they also come face to face with demons of their pasts. I liked that Remi didn’t immediately trust Hawk, even after he’d saved her life. More than once. I liked that Hawk stayed by her side regardless of her suspicion, and he did not waver. Remi slowly leans into him and his security, which was beyond sweet to witness.

But what I loved most about Storm Warning by Elizabeth Goddard: The emphasis on how the past does not define a person. God doesn’t care about what happened yesterday; He loves you regardless. He can use you regardless. And He will help you overcome your history and your trials. Remi does. Hawk does. He gives the opportunity for redemption—to everyone, if you are willing to accept it. Like Hawk saving Remi off that rope ladder, His hand always reaches out. And He will never let you go. He’ll walk with you through the strongest of storms: mental, emotional, and physical.

Storm Warning is a fantastic start to Elizabeth Goddard’s “Hidden Bay” series.
